For Christmas I received my Silhouette machine as a gift from my parents.
I was very proud of my Mom since buying it for me meant that she had to shop online, which she's still new at. She got a great deal on it, from a retail website, but being that it didn't come from Silhouette, it didn't come with any extra goodies and she couldn't find any from the same website. So I received my machine without vinyl.
Honestly, I wasn't bothered by not having any vinyl. I wanted the machine mainly to make stencils for glass etching (which I use contact paper for) and fabric painting. I've also used it to cut out shapes for other projects.
But the more I poke around blogland, the more curious I am about vinyl.
I found an awesome website that has vinyl for a really good price, at least compared to other websites that I've checked out.
I wasn't sure what I was going to make for my first vinyl project, but then I saw this picture that Wendi of Project Purple posted of applying vinyl to decorative eggs for an Easter decoration. Inspiration struck and I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I went to Michael's and was super excited to find large plastic Easter eggs for 99 cents (score!)
For my first vinyl project ever, I applied their names in vinyl to large plastic eggs for my nieces filled with treats for Easter.
Pretty simple, right? I figured a simple project would be easy to start with.
Simple, but so cute! I think I'm going to hide these for the kids when we do the Easter eggs hunt, because who wouldn't like finding their own special egg filled with goodies just for them. I know I wouldn't mind.
