Hello, My Name Is Bethany & I'm A Decoupage Addict...

Seriously, I'm really beginning to think I have a serious addiction...

I have been on a decoupage bender as of late.

First it was flameless candles, than it was my light switch cover, than I used mod podge to glue my silhouette inside the lamp shade on my Pendleton whiskey bottle lamp

Now, I have decoupaged again...

Although, I think I might blame this latest decoupage project on Amazing Boyfriend. He decided that we needed a "health shelf" by our door (well, that's what he's calling it, I personally think he just wanted an excuse to stain another unfinished wood shelf). Anyway, one of the things he wanted on the shelf was a place for a box of tissue. He suggested that I could get one of those unfinished wood tissue covers and decorate it however I wanted.

Sure, since I like to decoupage things!

Wanna see how I did it?

Supplies:
unfinished tissue box cover
scrapbook paper
mod podge
paint
scissors
paintbrushes or foam brushes
pencil

I started by putting the tissue box on the scrapbook paper and tracing out the different sides of the box. Than I cut out the pieces and set them aside for later.

Than I painted the box.

When the box was dry, I started decoupaging. I spread a good coat of mod podge onto the side of the box, than carefully placed my paper where I wanted it and pressed it down evenly. Than I used the edge of a gift card to scrap over the paper, to make sure that I got rid of any bubbles that would form under the paper. Important thing to remember in decoupage - bubbles are bad!

Once the mod podge under the paper had dried, I put a clear coat of mod podge over the entire tissue box to seal it.

When the second coat of mod podge was finished drying, it was done. I had a pretty tissue holder for the "health shelf".

I'm calling this a win-win!

  5. that looks really cool and I am pretty sure that I have everything that I need to make one. I think that it would be nice to make a box for each of the tissue boxes that are in my house. I just want to make something again because it has been to long.
