Who Needs Flowers Anyway?

Being the cheap budgetly creative bride that I'm turning out to be, I decided that I wanted to go a different route in making corsages for the VIPs for our wedding.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE flowers, but since we're ordering bulk flowers and doing all the arrangements and bouquets ourselves (budgetly creative, remember!), I decided that it would be smarter to make plan something different for our corsages that could be made ahead of time.

So I made some paper sunflowers using the sunflower shape from the Silhouette store...

...Then I took some ribbon...

...Added a few strips of tulle...

...glued the paper sunflower in the middle...

...then hot glued a pin to the back...

 ...and the end result...

Some pretty cute and (budgetly) creative corsages for the VIP ladies for our ceremony!

I love how they turned out! And it's one more project to cross off my still pretty long list.

31 days and counting!!!

Coming Soon To A Mailbox Near You!

For the invitations to our handfasting ceremony, I wanted something unique. (Of course!) I went to my friend Christie, scrapbooking/paper crafting extraordinaire, to pick her brain a little and see if she had any ideas/knowledge she could throw my way.

This is what we came up with!

This is what the outside looks like...

This is what the inside looks like...

(Yes, I did smudge out the location details.)

The invitation is a gate card with a burlap and ribbon sleeve. I love how they turned out!

I even got Amazing Boyfriend Fiance in on the action!

I had him cutting and putting together the direction cards I inserted into the invitation before I added the sleeve.

Once I got the cards put together and inserted our direction card, all I had to do was add the sleeve. I used a piece of scotch tape to hold the burlap together.

Did you know that glue dots work on burlap? I experimented and found out for myself that they work! I used glue dots to stick the ribbon to the burlap before I tied the knot.

Oh yeah, before I added the ribbon I sealed the edges using a candle, so they wouldn't fray.

Once I had the ribbon glued on, I tied the ends into a knot before slipping them into my envelopes.

It was a lot of work to get these finished, and of course they're late getting sent out, but they're finally done and on their way out to our guests.

80 more days!!!

Crazy for Card - Making

I've said before that I've never really been one for paper crafting, but I think I've been changing my tune. Lately, I've been venturing into card making, which might have stemmed from designing and planning out my wedding invitations. Anyway, I've been having a lot of fun with it, especially with some of the designs that I've purchased from the Silhouette Store.

I made a few Mother's Day cards for Amazing Boyfriend Fiance to give to our Mom's.

I know I'll be needing some cute thank you cards to send out after our wedding in September, so I might as well get started on them now.

I'm not the only one getting married this summer, my cousin Kim is getting married in July! I thought I'd plan ahead and make her cards for her bridal shower and her wedding.

Speaking of stock piling cards, I got these adorable little cards designs from the Silhouette store and made up a few so I'll be all prepared for the next baby shower I'm invited to.

And while I was at it, I just made a few others to have hanging around, ya know, just in case...

At least I know I'm prepared, for whatever occasion I should need a card for!

I Wonder If There Is A Group I Can Join?

My name is Bethany and I'm addicted to making paper boxes.

(Hello, Bethany!)

Honestly, it all started out innocently enough. I received a free box shape from the Silhouette website last year and thought it would make an adorable favor for a baby shower I was throwing. So I bought some cardstock, cut out the boxes and assembled them. Added a cute sticker and some ribbon and they were ADORABLE!!!

I later realized that there were a huge variety of boxes on the Silhouette website and bought several to try out. (No, seriously, there are TONS!)

I cut these boxes out of file folders and covered them in washi tape to make these gift boxes.

All these little favor boxes I made simply because I was curious to see what the pattern would look like put together.

This adorable heart shaped box will make a great gift box!

This last box was such a challenge! I had to look up the tutorial on how to assemble this candy dispenser box. Not only is it super cute but it will make a great little gift for a candy lover. I'm definitely planning on making more of these boxes to use as little gifts!

Wouldn't you like to receive one of these, especially filled with sweet little treats?

I've been having so much fun making these paper boxes that I've already volunteered to almost everyone I know that if they need favors or are throwing a party to let me know because I have tons of adorable favor ideas. Although, they might not let me now that they'll know that they're just enabling my recent addiction.

What's your latest crafting addiction?

(Let's be honest, we all have one!)

Guess What I Made It Out Of!!!

I'm officially jumping on the washi tape bandwagon!

I recently saw this post from Kelly at Live, Laugh, Rowe where she covered paper mache boxes with washi tape to make cute little gift boxes. I pinned the post, knowing that I wanted to borrow the idea.

Being the cheap thirfty crafter that I am, I came up to an alternative to the paper mache boxes that sell at Michael's for $1.

I bought these file folders at the dollar store. Than I came home and cut box shapes out of them with my Silhouette machine, and made them into boxes.

Than I used washi tape to cover my boxes and make them pretty!

These cute little boxes are perfect for little gifts. All I'd have to do is stick a bow on top (maybe even one of my scrap paper bows) and I have the cutest, easiest gift wrap!

The best part is that you'd never guess that these boxes were made out of dollar store file folders!

(I mean, if I hadn't told you.)

Have you made anything using waship tape?

What To Do When Scrap Happens

I've never really been all the into scrapbooking or card making, but somehow I end up with tons of paper scraps left over from decoupage projects. I hate to just throw all that pretty paper away!

I was going through my library of silhouette shapes the other day and realized that I had a downloaded a free shape that was a template to make bows for gift wrapping... which made me think of my growing pile of paper scraps...

So cute, right?

I cut out the pieces with my Silhouette machine, than mixed and matched the patterns. I used a brad to secure the pieces together.

I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing to use these for, but I think they would make a great little addition to any gifts that I need to wrap.

Has anyone else been working on any stash-busting projects lately?
