Proof That I Really Must Love Him...

Awhile back Amazing Boyfriend Fiance came to me and asked me to help him with an idea that he had. He wanted to make a travel size dog blanket for Luna that was waterproof on one side. He knew exactly how he wanted it, but since he doesn't know how to use a sewing machine, that's where he needed my help.

So he cut a piece of Luna's dog blanket and a bigger piece of nylon tarp. I even had him pin it together for me. All I had to do was sew it.

Sounds easy, right?

WRONG!

The Viking was not liking this sewing project! Sewing though all the material was thick and I had just about every problem you could possibly have. I kept breaking thread, then a needle. I got heavyweight thread and more needles. I had to dig out the manual for the sewing machine, that may or may not have been buried underneath a pile of unfinished projects sitting on top of my trunk, to figure out tips for adjusting the tension on such thick material. After my third attempt to sit down and figure it all out, I finally had success!

Sort of...

Notice I'm not showing you a close up.

That's because this is seriously one of the ugliest sewing jobs I've ever done. The nylon tarp material was really slick and slid on me more than once. But I got it finished and ABF is happy because I finished it before his backpacking trip this weekend.

Luna even approves, ugly stitches and all!

The Perfect Baby Blanket...

While surfing Pinterest awhile back for baby shower ideas, I can across this pin from the blog The Crafting Chicks for what they have dubbed the perfect baby blanket

Perfect?

I had to give this one a try!

My cousin, Jessica, is having her first little one, a girl that she's naming Harper Rose! (Seriously, isn't that just the cutest name?! I love it!)

Since I needed to do something for a baby shower gift, I went to Jo-Ann's and after calling in a second opinion (Thanks, Tiffany!), we picked out an adorable monkey princess flannel paired with a baby pink minky fabric.

I don't know about perfect, but for my first attempt at sewing a baby blanket, it turned out pretty darn close! I kind of wish that I had the time to make a whole stack of these to stash away for whenever anyone I know is having a baby. I know I'll definitely be making more of these adorable blankets in the future.

Kiss Me, I'm Irish!!!

Did you miss me?

I have certainly missed you! (no, really, I have!) I wanted to have my St. Patrick's Day projects posted before now, but you know, life has a funny way of not always working out the way you planned.  So here's my latest project.

I'm sure that MOST of you have some sort of shirt like this...

No? I'm the only one?

Kidding!

Well, as much as I love the sentiment behind the shirt and I proudly wore it for a few St. Patrick's Days, I felt like this shirt needed to be given a new purpose. So I turned it into this...

Much better, don't you think?

I thought so too!

Where's The Remote?

Seriously, how many times have you heard that question?

This was always the dreaded question at my parents' house, because somebody always walked off with the remote. And there would be hell to pay if you were that somebody!

I saw this idea forever ago, before I started blogging, and I feel bad because I honestly can't remember where I saw it, but the idea was pretty simple and after I started sewing, I remembered it and thought, 'That would make a great gift for my Dad!'

Behold, the remote pillow!!!

(I know, I'm a genius...just kidding)

I put "Grandpa's Chair" on the pillow because my Dad currently has as many grandkids as he does kids (that and this way I can tease him about being an old man. Just kidding!)

I know it's not quite Christmas just yet, so I probably shouldn't be posting this, but since my Dad doesn't really use the computer, I feel pretty safe in sharing this with everyone. I hope he likes it, especially if it really does help keep track of the remotes.

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

I've been so busy trying to get all my Christmas gifts made that I almost forgot to show you the new cover I made for my seasonal pillow!

I decided that I wanted something that didn't scream Christmas, and something that I could stretch out until Valentine's Day was closer, so this is what I settled on...

I'm SO happy with how this pillow turned out!

I love the combination of red and blue and the lace trim that I used around the edge of the pillow. It's only the second time that I've ever attempted using a trim, but I'm so glad that I did. Although Amazing Boyfriend has made a comment about it looking kinda frilly, which means that he's not the biggest fan, but at least he's not going to rain on my parade. Besides, he knows I'm probably going to change it in a month or so anyways.

So in the mean time... "let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!"
