Dear 2011,

   Dear 2011,

I just wanted to wish you a a very fond farewell. You definitely have not been very good to me, 2011, but I do feel like you have taught me so many important lessons so at least I know that you haven't completely been a waste of my time.

This year you have brought cancer to the one I hold the most dear, dreams of a life faded and re-imagined, and the sacrifice of a life that I used to have and will never have again.

This year you have also brought me closer to family that I can count on, a brand new nephew and niece, new friendships and the strengthening of others that I hold dear, and the time with Amazing Boyfriend to make memories that I will hold on to for the rest of my life.

I'm glad, 2011, that I am moving forward and leaving you behind. I sincerely hope that 2012 won't be as big of a jerk to me as you have been.

Love, Bethany

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas...

source

I wanted to make sure that I wished everyone a Merry Christmas!

I will be spending Christmas Eve and Christmas Day shuttling around Amazing Boyfriend to his family functions since he's given up driving because of all the medications that he's on to combat the side effects from chemo. But on a positive note, this was an off-chemo week so he should have energy for all the family gatherings that we'll try to make it to.

I hope everyone gets to spend time making memories with family, friends and loved ones.

P.S. Can you believe this year is almost over already? It's hard to believe that 2011 is almost gone, but I'm definitely looking forward to 2012!

Where's The Remote?

Seriously, how many times have you heard that question?

This was always the dreaded question at my parents' house, because somebody always walked off with the remote. And there would be hell to pay if you were that somebody!

I saw this idea forever ago, before I started blogging, and I feel bad because I honestly can't remember where I saw it, but the idea was pretty simple and after I started sewing, I remembered it and thought, 'That would make a great gift for my Dad!'

Behold, the remote pillow!!!

(I know, I'm a genius...just kidding)

I put "Grandpa's Chair" on the pillow because my Dad currently has as many grandkids as he does kids (that and this way I can tease him about being an old man. Just kidding!)

I know it's not quite Christmas just yet, so I probably shouldn't be posting this, but since my Dad doesn't really use the computer, I feel pretty safe in sharing this with everyone. I hope he likes it, especially if it really does help keep track of the remotes.

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

I've been so busy trying to get all my Christmas gifts made that I almost forgot to show you the new cover I made for my seasonal pillow!

I decided that I wanted something that didn't scream Christmas, and something that I could stretch out until Valentine's Day was closer, so this is what I settled on...

I'm SO happy with how this pillow turned out!

I love the combination of red and blue and the lace trim that I used around the edge of the pillow. It's only the second time that I've ever attempted using a trim, but I'm so glad that I did. Although Amazing Boyfriend has made a comment about it looking kinda frilly, which means that he's not the biggest fan, but at least he's not going to rain on my parade. Besides, he knows I'm probably going to change it in a month or so anyways.

So in the mean time... "let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!"
