At my family reunion this summer, my Aunt Barb told me she had a bunch of mason jars for me to use for crafting. I forgot to get them when I left, but she sent about 40 of them home with my parents. I didn't have any particular plans for the mason jars, so the great mason jar crafting search began.
Then I ran across the coolest crafting idea ever! This post by Melinda of White Water Crafting, who made used a mason jar and a candlestick to make redneck wine glasses! I just had to make a set of these myself.
How cool are these?
Of course, Melinda used pint size mason jars and all I had were regular wide mouth mason jars. Lucky for me, I have family and friends that feed my crafting addiction. My sister Jennifer, texted me one afternoon to tell me she has a bunch of mason jars for me. I didn't realize until I went to get them that they were the pint size ones, which made me so happy!
So I washed them out really well, sanded both the bottom of the jars and the top of the glass candlesticks that I'd picked up from the dollar store, and glued them together with E600.
I have the perfect person to give this set to, but I might have to make a few more sets for Christmas. I know one brother who will be hoping I draw his name for our annual Christmas gift drawing this year. (Yes, Jonathan, I'm talking about you.)
***Updated 10/25/11: I now have a few sets of these glasses, as well as individual glasses, available for sale in my new Etsy shop! You can find them here. ***

I love these. My boyfriend and I talk about stuff for our wedding all the time and when I showed him these he fell in love right away. I was kind of iffy on them BUT once I though about it I realized it was exactly our style. See, when my boyfriend moved out on his own he never took glasses/cups with him, nor did he ever buy them... no, he took his mom's mason jars. When I go to his house that is ALL he has to drink out of. I think having these glasses made for us and our wedding party would be perfect, after all it is a funny part of who we are. That and I also promised him that once we live together I will make sure I keep a few jars in the house for him to use. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThem there glasses are so purdee!!!
