Just Call Me Twinkle Toes...

Last fall, I tried on a pair of Steve Madden platform high heels one night while I was at work (back when I was a shoe salesperson in Eugene). I loved them because they were so fun. However, I just don't do heels. I never have. I'm a serious comfort shoe kinda girl and as much as I truly LOVE heels, (on other people and occasionally myself)  I never really wear them.

So sadly, they didn't come home with me and then they were gone.

Recently, one of my friends were talking about the shoes she was going to wear with her bridesmaid dress to our friends' wedding. The dress is long and being that my friend is already tall (not to mention taller then all her fellow bridesmaids) she decided to wear flip-flops.

I asked her if I could decorate them for her, that way she wouldn't get in trouble with the bride for wearing cheap flip-flops. I decided that they needed a little glitter.

And while I was at it I figured, what the hell. I'll make a pair of glitter shoes for myself.

I was so excited to find a pair of shoes for $1 at Goodwill because I didn't want it to suck if it didn't work out. I modge podged the crap out of them, added glitter and repeated the steps until the shoes were covered. When they were dry I sprayed with a clear coat to hopefully keep the glitter on, but we'll see how that works out. If I don't leave a trail of glitter wherever I go, I might just wear these next time I go line dancing!

One final note:  I just wanted to take a minute to say that as much as I'm not a fan of Martha Stewart, I am a HUGE fan of the Martha Stewart brand glitter. That's what I used on these shoes and I have a ton left, most of the bottle. The Martha Stewart brand glitter comes in a huge variety of colors and it works so well that it's what I'm probably gonna use from now on. (Please know that I'm definitely not getting paid to endorse this product, but I love it, so I want to let everyone know how awesome it it.)

Update: After I made my glitter shoes, by just brushing on modge podge and pouring on the glitter, I found this post by Suburbs Mama that used a much better technique. If I make any more glitter shoes I'll be doing it her way.

Hey even if you leave a little glitter everywhere you go, nothing wrong with a little Pixie Dust trail.

  9. I love, love, love your glitter shoes! In my book, everything's better with glitter.

I agree, Martha Stewart glitter is fabulous. Have you ever tried PK Glitz glitters? They're even more sparkling and dynamic than Martha's.

    Best,
