What's Wicked, Awesome And Has Feathers And Skulls?

Why my latest wreath, of course!

Want a closer look?

When I was discussing wreaths that I was planning on making, my friend Tiffany, who is also the owner of the lemon wreath, requested a Halloween wreath, since she already had an autumn one.

I had a couple ideas of what I could make, as well as some random Halloween items I'd picked up on sale at Michael's, knowing I could use them for something. While I was wandering the aisles of Michael's I ran across something else, and in my head, it all came together.

Wanna see how I did it?

Supplies:
flat wreath form
feather boas (I used 3)
skull heads
ribbon
glue gun and glue sticks
paint (optional)

I started out by painting the wreath form black. The feathers covered the wreath form, but just in case the form showed through I wanted to make sure that the form wasn't visible.

Next step was making my wreath hanger with my ribbon. It gave me a reference point as to where the top of the wreath was, as well as making the ribbon hanger more of a background piece then a focal point of the wreath.

Once I had my ribbon hanger on, I started wrapping my feather boas around the wreath form and gluing them every few wraps around the wreath form to secure them.

Once I had the wreath form covered by my feather boas, it's time to start attaching my skulls to the wreath. I laid mine out how I wanted them to be on the wreath before gluing them down. I simply hot glued the bottom of the skull and pressed it down onto the wreath.

And that's it, you're done!

If I were to make another wreath like this I probably would glue the skulls so that the faces were facing out so they are easier to see, but at the same time, it's a little deceptive when you're walking up to the front door.

Isn't Tiffany's front porch adorable? It's nice to have a friend that loves decorating for Halloween as much as I do.

  9. This is cool. I'm always trying to find new ideas for wreaths or something to hang on the front door. This is such a neat version and it doesn't look like every other fall-colored leaf wreath out there. Heck, I think even my husband (who hates door decor) could get behind this.

  17. Great wreath! If you make another one you should think about a layer of glow in the dark mod podge for the skulls! I just saw it this past weekend and couldn't think what I would use it for, but this would be perfect. Thanks for sharing at Etcetorize~
